Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in Ports Series

OceanWise > Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in Ports Series
Introduction to GIS Series

Our “GIS in Ports” is being rolled out throughout 2024 and 2025 and includes articles, interviews, a webinar and eventually a white paper which brings together all of our findings.

Links and resources will be added as we build the interviews and create the content.

We kick the series off with an easy-read article by our Managing Director and GIS enthusiast Caroline Levey “An Intro to GIS in Ports”. This article explains what GIS is and how it can be used to benefit Ports both in the UK and overseas.

An Interview with….

We have seen how GIS can bring a wide range of improvements to Ports but don’t just take our word for it. Whilst we have lots of experience of GIS applied to the marine domain, we are not a port and as this series is intended for Ports. We feel that it is important to bring together insight and words of wisdom from other Ports using GIS – so they can explain how they use it and what benefits it has brought. Equally, it’s also important to share real-world challenges and hear about what barriers to entry there might be and how they were overcome.
