Marine Data Management and GIS Workshop 2018 in London

We hosted our popular annual GIS Workshop in London on the 27th November 2018 at The School of Economic Science, 11 Mandeville Place, London W1U 3AJ.

‘Treating Data as Infrastructure’ was the key note by Leigh Dodds from the Open Data Institute, alongside a great line up of guest speakers.

Sea Tech Week 8-12 October

We were represented by our valued Partner Geomod at the 2018 Sea Tech Week which was held in Brest, France on the 8-12 October.

British Ports Association Conference 2018

We attended and sponsored the British Ports Association (BPA) Conference 2018 at Port of Tyne from 9-12 October at Sage Gateshead, Newscastle.

Cadcorp Maritime Seminar 10th October

Caroline Levey presented at this free-to-attend seminar which was dedicated to Cadcorp customers working in the marine and maritime industry. The event was held at: Sterling Court, Norton Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 2JY from 10:00-15:30.

HydroSea 18

Mike Osborne made a keynote speech on “Data Management and Hydrography” at HydroSea18, Malaysia on the 19 – 20 September alongside our partner HydroNav who were also exhibiting at the event.

We attended SeaWork Exhibition on 4th July in Southampton in the Small Business area on stand SB1 alongside out partner OMC.

11th International Harbour Masters’ Association (IHMA) Congress

We presented and exhibited at the 11th International Harbour Masters’ Association (IHMA) Congress on the 25th – 28th June 2018 in London.

 

We demonstrated our environmental monitoring and publishing solution ‘Port-Log’ and our latest product developments.

Ports and Harbours Workshop 12th June 2018, Liverpool

We hosted a free one-day Ports and Harbours Workshop from on 12th June 2018 entitled ‘Data – from Liability to Asset!’

 

This event took place at the Liverpool Marriott Hotel, L1 1RH.

130th UK Maritime Pilots’ Association (UKMPA) Conference

OceanWise attended and exhibited at the 130th UK Maritime Pilots’ Association (UKMPA) Conference on 23 May 2018 at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Bristol.
 
We showcased both our GIS Productivity Software tools and Environmental Data Monitoring real-time Port-Log ‘smart telemetry’ services, both of which are now being used by UK port pilots in their day to day work.
 

UKHMA Spring Seminar in Edinburgh

OceanWise attended the 2018 UK Harbour Masters Association (UKHMA) Spring Seminar on 21 March at the Principal Edinburgh Hotel, George Street, Edinburgh. The event provided a great opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest and to network with our port and commercial colleagues.
 
We showcased our GIS Productivity Software tools and Environmental Data Monitoring real-time online Port-Log ‘smart telemetry’ services which are being used by many UK Ports including Peel Ports Group, ABP Group, PD Teesport, Wash Ports and Portland Port.
 

Oceanology International 2018

OceanWise, leading providers of Environmental Data Sharing and Monitoring services in the UK, showcased its latest developments in ‘smart telemetry’ and GIS based productivity software tools for ports and harbours and other marine authorities at OI2018 on March 13-15 at the Excel Centre London.

Coastal Futures

We attended and exhibited at the 25th Coastal Futures Conference on 17th and 18th January 2018. The Conference had an emphasis on looking ahead to the opportunities and practical measures that will be needed to meet the challenges the future will pose. There was over 35 presentations with a range of topics, from renewables in coastal and marine environments to the opportunities and risks from Brexit.

Marine Data Management and GIS Workshop 2017 in London

We hosted our ever popular free-to-attend Marine Data Management & GIS Workshop on Wednesday 22nd November 2017 at The School of Economic Science, 11 Mandeville Place, London W1U 3AJ.
 
Our keynote speaker was Ed Parsons, Geospatial Technologist at Google who provided thought provoking insight on “geography in the twenty first century” alongside a great line-up of speakers from across the marine and maritime sectors.

Hydro 17 – Rotterdam

OceanWise exhibited and spoke at Hydro 17 ‘Connecting 4D’ conference on 14-16 November on board the SS Rotterdam in Rotterdam Port. We showcased our Environmental Monitoring Data Sharing and Publishing services as well as our GIS productivity software tools developed for Ports and Harbours.

OceanWise and IMarEST once again hosted a one-day Marine Data Management Awareness Course on Tuesday 17th October 2017. It took place at IMarEST HQ at 1 Birdcage Walk, London from 0930 – 1700.

We exhibited at the 129th UKMPA Conference in Middlesbrough, UK on 20-21 September 2017.

 

OceanWise attends 7th Session of UN-GGIM in New York

OceanWise attended the 7th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) in New York on 31 July – 4 August.

Marine Measurement Forum

We presented the delivery of a Mobile Weather Station to support race management at the Royal Yacht Squadron at the 59th Marine Measurement Forum on 7 July 2017. The event was hosted by the Hydrographic Society and held at BP, Sunbury.

Marine Data Management and GIS Workshop in Scotland 2017

OceanWise hosted a free-to-attend Marine Data Management & GIS Workshop, on Tuesday 23rd May 2017 at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George St, Edinburgh EH2 2PQ.

The theme of the event – ‘Is poor data management putting your operations at risk?’ will resonate with many managers and practitioners dealing with geospatial and business data and information.

We showed innovative ways of making life easier for you, your decision makers and stakeholders. The workshop featured demonstrations of how GIS technologies and OceanWise products and services are successfully delivering savings in time, effort and money.

The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to network, share experiences with government and industry experts and practitioners, as well as finding out how GIS and spatial data management delivers real value and benefit! The workshop was aimed at public, commercial and non-governmental organisations involved in managing assets or providing decision support.

We exhibited at Oceanology International North America on February 14-16 2017 in San Diego, California.

Marine Data Management Awareness Course

In co-operation with IMarEST, we ran our One-Day Marine Data Management Awareness Course at IMarEST HQ, 1 Birdcage Walk, London, SW1H 9JJ on Wednesday 8 February 2017. Data is the new oil or the new electricity; it costs money and we collect it for a reason. Because it is such a valuable asset – only an organisation’s employees are more valuable – it needs to be treated accordingly. If you are involved in collecting, managing and / or publishing data, then this course will provide a valuable insight on the world of data.

Why your Data Matters – in Brazil!

OceanWise attended the 17th meeting of the Meso-American and Caribbean Hydrographic Commission (MACHC) hosted by the Brazilian Department of Hydrography and Navigation (DHN) in Belem from 14th-17th December.

In addition to the annual review of hydrographic and oceanographic activities in the region, a one day workshop will explore “Marine data management as a prerequisite for regional risk assessment”. OceanWise, as Expert Advisers to the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO), spoke about “Why Data Management Really Matters” and how best practise can be achieved. John Pepper, Secretary of the IHO Marine Spatial Data Infrastructures (MSDI) Working Group, updated attendees on the work programme of the group and its impact in the development of national and regional initiatives to improve the exchange, sharing and re-use of hydrographic data.
