Our Sustainability and Environmental Goals
Sustainability is defined as the development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Sustainability therefore is an issue for everyone, no matter of the size or scale of a business. In line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals we recognise the interdependence between growth and the environment and believe that without a healthy and sustainable environment we will not be able to drive a healthy economy. We value and respect our environment so therefore have set goals which we hope will support the natural resources on which we all depend.
What we are setting out to achieve:
By 2025 we will reduce our carbon footprint:
by reducing energy usage, changing to hybrid vehicles, offsetting our carbon from vehicle usage and air travel, using renewable energy wherever possible.
Incorporate environmental thinking into all our projects, business plans and actions:
by initiating environmental assessments across our project work and throughout marketing activities (such as events and travel).
Reduce our consumption of resources and waste:
by increasing recycling, reducing the amount of waste that we produce, re-using equipment and instruments where possible, encouraging renewable energy use and storing stationery centrally rather than individually on each desk, encouraging regular maintenance to improve instrument longevity.
What have we done so far / will do (during 2020/2021)?
Reviewed our energy supplier – increase the amount of electricity from renewable energy sources
Initiate an annual local “clean up” (litter picking) day to support our local community
Increased recycling at the office to include crisp packets, pens & sweet wrappers
Reviewed our office milk supply
Implemented environmental reviews at the start of each project as part our project plans
Regularly servicing equipment to improve longevity of equipment
Promoting good housekeeping in the office to reduce energy usage (I.E turning lights / heating off, using correct recycling, implemented remote sockets)
Initiating an offsetting scheme to offset the carbon from mileage used of the essential company van
Changed over the first of our company cars to a plug-in hybrid
