Monitor the environment and share weather, tidal and other data easily and efficiently
Whatever your needs, and whatever the stage of your project, if it involves capturing, managing, sharing and publishing marine or coastal environmental monitoring data, we can help you achieve your aims
We are able to offer independent advice on your environmental monitoring needs using our extensive experience and many years of working across a wide range of marine and maritime industries. We work with many different types of meteorological and oceanographic instrumentation and are independent of any given manufacturer or supplier. We will make sure that you get the right environmental system for your needs and built for your unique requirements, and will ensure you can get the most from your investment long into the future.
We are able to take the advice and recommendations we provide to the next stage if that is your choice. We will design a system tailored to your requirements and integrate all the components, so that they work together harmoniously. The system can comprise a single coastal monitoring station with a local display or a complete monitoring network incorporating many types of sensor, onshore and offshore. We are marine data experts and will ensure your data gets to those that need it, when they need it, up-to-date and in the right format. See our recent project at the Port of Dover here.
As part of our commitment to marine and coastal monitoring, and to our customers, we can install your sensors and monitoring equipment for you using our teams of experienced and certified field engineers. We offer factory acceptance testing and onsite user acceptance testing as standard. We offer a commissioning period during which we will address any problems should they arise. We then offer maintenance, re-calibration and servicing to ensure that data quality and reliability is maintained and our customers get the most from their investment long into the future.
Our experience indicates that choosing the right data logger/modem (aka an RTU) is essential to delivering a reliable and robust data telemetry system and hence is key to the success of the environmental monitoring system as a whole. As a consequence, we have teamed up with telecommunications experts, Scannex Electronics, to develop a Smart Telemetry Unit, the ip.buffer, specifically designed for the environmental monitoring market. Proven to be extremely reliable over many years, often in adverse conditions, the ip.buffer is undoubtedly the most flexible and reliable unit currently available.
Our environmental data sharing and publishing platform, Port-Log, allows you to view, disseminate and analyse environmental data and will manage multiple data formats from multiple sensors. Unlike the name might suggest, our Port-Log system is not just for Port and is deployed worldwide. It is adaptable to almost any marine or coastal environmental monitoring challenge including ports, harbours, coastal terminals and offshore energy installations. It is also used by coastal observatories and helping to manage inland waterways. Find examples Port-Log on our Case Studies page or visit the Port-Log demonstration site.
There are a range of extensions available for Port-Log to meet different use requirements. These include Port-Log Connect (our connectivity suite which offers further data sharing to those inside and outside of your organisation), mapping interface upgrades and our Advanced Waves and Profiler Extensions.

At OceanWise, we help you maximise the value from your investment in monitoring. We make sure it is not only fit for purpose, ensuring safe and efficient operations, but also enable you to share data, publicly or with specific groups of users, in applications for design, engineering, construction, forecasting, planning and to support many other types of decision-making.
We have a track record in delivering robust and cost effective solutions to:
Ports, Harbours and Coastal Terminals Authorities – to support vessel traffic management, pilotage and other maritime operations, security and emergency planning and response, or to share data with the wider community.
Oil & Gas, Coal and Renewable Energy Operators – to enable safe operation of offshore wind farms, oil & gas platforms, pipelines and terminals, and many other types of installation.
Construction and Engineering Projects – – to provide real time dynamic monitoring and positioning information during survey, dredging and piling operations, shoreline replenishment and seabed or coastal developments.
Recreation and Leisure Organisations – to deliver real-time weather monitoring at cruise terminals, recreational facilities, and during yacht racing and other water sports events.
Contact us and we’d be happy to talk through your specific monitoring and data sharing requirements and discuss how we can help.
